Beni Singh College is Established in 1978 . In the Chenari (Reserve) legislative assembly constituency of Rohtas
district, which is very backward from the educational and economic
point of view, in the light of the increasing need of higher education,
Beni Singh College Village - Hatta (Chenari) was established on 29th
April 1978. Hatta village is about 1Km north of Chenari. Elite farmer -
social worker Late Babu Beni Singh donated the land for the
construction of the college. In this land, Brahmalin Saint Swami
Shivanand Ji Teerth of Gitaghat Ashram under the chairmanship of
Late Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh (Former Member, University Sabha and
Syndicate, Magadha University) completed the work of foundation
stone and ground worship. Other family members of Late Babu Beni
Singh such as – Late Shyam Bihari Singh, Late Awadh Bihari Singh,
Late Shankar Singh, Late Ram Lakhan Singh, Late Kailash Singh,
Late Suryakumar Singh, Late Sitaram Singh, Shri Vasudev Singh,
Parshuram Singh, Shaligram Singh, Late Gaya Rai and Shri Jagdish
Singh fulfilled the requirement by donating land.
Late Sant Kumar Singh, resident of Hatta village, who was a
vigorous worker and leader of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh in Rohtas
Banjari and Dalmiyanagar. After retiring from active strategy, he
became involved in the construction of the college and the local social
workers made him the secretary of the management committee.
In 1983, the Government of Bihar gave a temporary connection,
which has been made permanent on 20 March 2006 (from
1999-2000). Now this college has permanent affiliation with Veer
Kunwar Singh University in Bachelor of Arts, Science and Commerce.
Along with this, it is recognized by the University Grants Commission
(U.G.C.) in 2 F and 12 - B.
